In a major burglary incident reported from Chevarambalam in Kozhikode, unidentified thieves broke into a locked house and made away with a large quantity of valuables, including around 45 sovereigns of gold jewellery and cash worth several lakhs of rupees. The theft occurred when the house owner and family were away, which the criminals appear to have carefully observed before executing the break-in. According to police, the burglars likely gained entry by forcing open doors or windows and targeted cupboards and lockers inside the house, indicating that the crime was planned and carried out with prior knowledge of the premises.
Following the incident, the Kozhikode police registered a case and launched an investigation, collecting CCTV footage from nearby houses and streets to trace the movements of the suspects before and after the burglary. The visuals reportedly show suspicious individuals moving in the area during late hours, which investigators believe could provide crucial leads. Police are also questioning neighbours and checking records of similar thefts in nearby localities to determine whether an organised burglary gang is involved. The incident has raised concerns among residents of Chevarambalam, prompting police to advise homeowners to improve security measures and remain vigilant, especially when leaving houses unattended.
