Tali Shiva Temple

The Tali Shiva Temple in Kozhikode is one of the oldest and most historically significant temples in Kerala, dedicated to Lord Shiva. Believed to have been consecrated by the legendary sage Parasurama, the temple later gained prominence under the patronage of the Zamorin rulers of Calicut, who considered it their royal temple. The temple showcases classic Kerala-style architecture with a sloping tiled roof, wooden carvings, and a serene inner sanctum that reflects ancient craftsmanship. Tali Shiva Temple was also the centre of the renowned Revathi Pattathanam, an assembly of scholars and poets held during medieval times, highlighting its cultural importance. Major festivals such as Maha Shivaratri and Vishu are observed with great devotion, drawing large numbers of devotees. Situated in the heart of Kozhikode city, the temple remains a vital spiritual, cultural, and historical landmark.
